During my visit to an observation home, I met a 17-year-old boy who was being held on charges of attempted murder (under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code). After conducting a 45-minute counseling session with him, I provided him with my business card and encouraged him to contact me for any assistance he might require for his studies once he was granted bail. He did reach out to me, and we helped him enrol in coaching classes for his higher secondary subjects. Over time, he began frequenting our office, and we involved him in our community work. He even joined our employability program, which led to him landing a job. It was heartening to see him donate blood with us when he turned 18. Our experience with this young man gives us hope that transformation is indeed possible. We believe that the Juvenile Justice Act, which priorities restoration over punishment, played a vital role in his positive turnaround. 

सुधार ग्रह में मैंने एक 17 साल के लड़के से मुलाकात की जिसे हत्या की कोशिश के आरोप में निरुध किया गया था (धारा 307 आईपीसी के तहत)। मेरा उसके साथ 45 मिनट का परामर्श  सत्र हुआ और बेल मिलने के बाद उसे उसकी अध्ययन से संबंधित कोई भी मदद के लिए मेने अपना  विजिटिंग कार्ड उसे दिया और उसे संपर्क करने की सलाह दी। उसने मुझसे संपर्क किया और हमने उसे उच्चतर माध्यमिक विषयों के कोचिंग क्लास में भर्ती कराया। समय के साथ, वह हमारे कार्यालय में आने लगा और हमने उसे हमारे सामुदायिक काम में शामिल किया। उसने हमारे रोजगार उन्मुख  कार्यक्रम में शामिल होकर नौकरी पा ली। जब वह 18 साल का हुआ, तो उसने हमारे साथ रक्तदान  भी दिया। हमारे अनुभव से हमें आशा है कि परिवर्तन संभव है। हमारा विश्वास है कि किशोर न्याय अधिनियम, जो दंड के बजाय पुनर्स्थापना को प्राथमिकता देता है, ने उसके सकारात्मक परिवर्तन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभायी है।
